30% germination rate.... but I have plants!
I didn't know what to expect when I ordered these. I live in a place that can support this type of tree climatically and had been looking for a way to get a little quiet and privacy from my loud neighbors. I thought a natural landscape barrier would be good, and these double in helping to slow down the fierce winds that occasionally blow through my yard. I learned that bamboo grows quickly in general. I'll be starting these indoors during the heat of the summer and planting them outdoors in the slightly cooler winter season to give them a chance to get established before subjecting them to scorching heat. (It's warm year round where I live.) The seeds themselves are about 1-1/2" long and shaped sort of like a slender toothpick. So cool. I hope they germinate well. I'm looking forward to getting them going.
Soak seeds then place seeds between two layers each of paper towels. Keep very moist and in a warm place. Should sprout in a week or two or possibly three.
I am very happy with this purchase. I planted 60 seeds 4 weeks ago. I currently have 14 sprouts. At first I was feeling a little discouraged because it took 2-1/2 weeks before I saw a single sprout. By 3 weeks several sprouts had sprouted. More continue to pop up. These seeds take time but they are growing beautifully. ***update at 5 weeks I have 20 bamboo plants growing strong.
My seeds arrived as advertised and in good shape. I have planted them and am patiently awaiting their sprouting.
